R.I.P Harp and Fiddle

The Harp and Fiddle, one of our favorite bar / restaurants in town, closed today.

We took this photo on July 6th, hopefully it isn't the last photo taken of Yorkers enjoying this bar.

We really aren't sure how to handle this news. Philip had relatives in town this week and when walking by The Harp we took note of the number of folks there. We really considered it part of the foundation of the revitalization of downtown York....and now it's gone.

We have to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else.

From: York Dispatch

One of York's most popular downtown restaurants closed Monday morning, and an owner said it's possibly for good.

The blinds were drawn at the Harp & Fiddle Irish Pub and Restaurant, 110 N. George St., and they didn't come back up for the 11 a.m. open.

Instead, owners decided Monday to call a staff meeting to tell the 30 employees that the restaurant wasn't making enough money because of the economy, and they wouldn't have to report to work, said Jimmy Fagan, an owner.

We took this photo about two months ago, we like it so much that it is currently the header for the page you are on right now.

This is very sad, defiantly a step back for York. It was very nice to meet and greet people there then settle in for a nice dinner. It will be missed.
